Singapore, 05 March 2010 - Watchdata, one of the leading innovative data security and smart card technology solutions providers in the world presented its recent success in Asia on the implementation and deployment of commercial mobile payment solution at the Smart Card 3rd Annual Payments Summit held on February 23rd–25th, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The summit organized by Smart Card Alliance focused on exciting new trends and projects that are accelerating the widespread acceptance, usage and application of contactless and NFC mobile payments technology for transportation and general retail payment applications.

Dr. Jack Pan, Vice President of International business and General Manager of the Americas of Watchdata presented its SIMpass™ NFC mobile payment solution at the summit, which was well received by the participants and industry experts. SIMpass™ offers unparalleled feature set to enable very secure, highly compatible, cost effective and quick to market value-added mobile solution.

With the use of NFC technology, the mobile phone has the potential of becoming a powerful payment device, helping people make fast and secure payments particularly in the transport and retail space.  NFC trials around the world indicate that consumers embrace using the technology. However, business case for NFC remains unanswered as difference in opinion between stakeholders hinders the way the market develops.
