Brasilia, 3 July 2012 -- The National Institute of Information Technology (ITI) published in the Official Gazette Union of 26 June 2012 the declaratory approval, under the ICP-BRAZIL, of the USB cryptographic token “WatchKey” made by Watchdata Technologies. The standard established by the Brazilian ITI comprises the highest degree of security for encryption and digital security and is recognized internationally for the high levels of protection and interoperability required to ensure the inviolability of the information contained in cryptographic devices.
ITI performs the function of Certificate Authority Root - Root CA – and also accredits other participants, supervising and auditing processes to ensure compliance with regulations and standards governing entities within the ICP-Brazil.The approval granted by ITI for Watchdata Technologies covers a broader scope of certification which combines FIPS and Common Criteria for evaluation tests of the components of the cryptographic module, firmware and embedded software, interface and communication modules software such as CSP and cryptographic libraries.Adherence to the standards set by the ITI is a necessary condition to ensure safety and interoperability of devices in the certification model adopted by Brazil.
